Best Practices: Building Relationships Beyond the Classroom

On Saturday, January 21, Family Engagement Liaison Dorian Harris met up with families from Duckrey, Gideon, Bethune, Stearne, Peirce, and Spring Garden schools to watch Temple University's women’s basketball team play a game. Engaging with families beyond school helps to grow the relationship between parents and the school. Plus…Temple won the game!

As this article from Edutopia explains, when staff members take the time to build relationships with family members outside of the classroom or school building, the trust and understanding between school and home increases dramatically, and families are then more likely to become involved and engaged in their child’s education.
