UPDATE: School Advisory Councils
Your SAC Support Team is hard at work training families, staff, and community members on how to start and support a SAC at the school level! We've traveled out to schools, presented at community meetings, and held our own city-wide SAC Information Sessions here at 440 N. Broad. We're also creating new materials, planning live—and filmed!—professional development sessions, and collecting our first batch of data to see where schools are in the SAC development process.
Here's a glimpse of what we've been working on this month...
SAC Data Collection: CHECKPOINT #1 APPROACHING!
The FACE Office will conduct three assessment "checkpoints" throughout the 2016-2017 school year to ensure that schools are on track to have a fully-functioning SAC by June 2017. The first checkpoint is on December 20, 2016! We'll be looking to see schools have a SAC or other family group that fulfills the following criteria...
Ongoing Meetings
The SAC must meet at least every other month (though we recommend meeting every month).
Forms to Submit:
- Upload Agenda & Sign-in Sheet to SAC Google Folder after each meeting
Correct Council Composition
The SAC must include a simple majority family members, along with the school principal, school staff, students (in middle & high schools), and community members. Family members must always make up the largest portion of SAC members.
